That said.repair is useless,maintaince is useful all non melee builds should get it to 4 eventually imo.Power armor user benefit too,implants,laser weapon users.High value for most builds. Laser pistole with some maintaince is very cost effective early on.Tons of rechargers too.Ĥ hacking and 4 cyb and+2 cyb cheap tier 1 buff is good for the rest of the game as Navy start,and rare hacking 6 crates can be opened by insta hack items. If you don't like high lvl hacking asap or like starting laser guns then I would go for a marine. On my impossible I prefer the Navy one,you safe a few modules longterm and can get standard 3 at start just as the marine,so can use shotguns without any CM investments,but you will be able to get hacking 4 faster as Navy so you can hack turrets. (shrug), maybe Repair having a purpose would fix a lot of these complaints. But then Marine would kinda suck and the game would be no better. Maybe what they could have done is made the Navy what the Marine is right now, and taken away some of the abilities from the Marine. Possibly time ran out, or whatever ideas they had never worked as intended. The Navy is left with their thumb up their ass, because there's no area or gameplay element that makes therm different than the Marine, because game designers never created it.

But there's two distinct classes really, not three. And tweaking the abilities and improving as you go along, all that is fun. There's kinda only one path through the game, and all classes can adapt to survive. Is there a way through a level or a solution to a problem that is a true alternative to emptying clips in full auto or using space magic? Well, yes, but it's not exclusive to the Navy nor is the Navy better suited to it. Navy gets no more benefit from Research than others. Lasers and experimental weapons are worse than pistols and pipes. PSI powers are a world of their own, and obviously confronting the enemy with old fashioned violence is a fun choice for a FPS. Navy does have a slight boost there, but it's practically irrelevant. Maybe if hacking is crucial, all the classes have to be able to hack. Navy is kinda just a little less dumb than a brick and can hack stuff slightly earlier. Maybe if Repair wasn't worthless and Research was better implemented? As it is, the dumb as brick Marine can be agile, good with all weapons or melee, and skilled enough with electronics and research. Hack and Cyber is pretty good, but otherwise the Navy really doesn't have much shine.
